Last time, we tackled the question, ‘where am I?’ This helped us identify our current position in life through an honest assessment of different aspects of our lives. Just as questions guide conversations, they also shape our life’s direction. They determine our focus in life. So ask yourself today, ‘Where am I going? What is my vision for the future? What goals do I need to achieve to reach that destination?’
You need to create what personal development experts call a ‘compelling dream’ for your life. Successful companies often have compelling visions that guide them in the marketplace. For example, when Bill Gates started Microsoft, he aimed to make computers accessible to every household on earth. Coca Cola set a goal to have a coke in the hand of every person on earth. The General Overseer of The Redeemed Church of God shared a vision of building a church within a 5-minute walk for every community.
If companies and churches, which are led by ordinary people like us, can have such ambitious dreams, then why not us? I’m not suggesting you dream of reaching the moon. Instead, I encourage you to envision your passion on a larger scale, impacting many lives. That would be truly exciting.
