Introduction
Discovering and developing your talent is essential, but without deploying it, your efforts will amount to nothing. To deploy is to use or apply your talent effectively.
God gave us talents to help others and find personal fulfillment. While some people want to use their talents solely to help others without profiting, one of the greatest secrets to wealth and success is operating within our talents.
In this write-up, we will explore the reasons why we must use our talents and how to deploy them effectively:
Reasons to Use Your Talent:
1. Talent deployment brings fulfillment: Nothing compares to a person operating in their area of talent. They are in complete flow and fully engaged.
2. Talent deployment brings profit: Utilizing your talent leads to success, achievement, and wealth. With what I call “money sense,” you can use your talent to earn substantial income.
3. Talent deployment impacts people’s lives: When you put your talent to work, it helps solve other people’s problems and positively impacts many lives.
How to Deploy Your Talent:
1. Positioning
The first step is to position your talent for use. Your attitude and posture will determine your impact. You must have a positive attitude toward what God has given you and believe in your ability to make meaningful contributions to others’ lives.
Attitude is everything. When David met Goliath, his posture demonstrated to the soldiers and King Saul that he deserved the opportunity to face the giant, and he ultimately succeeded.
2. Volunteering
Use your talent for free and volunteer in various settings. In a mentoring session I conduct weekly, a mentee asked, “What should I do if I have the passion but lack avenues to express it?” I told him there are many places to use his talent.
Serve in your church for free, volunteer for company events, or help friends. These activities can create a niche and establish your reputation.
3. Servicing
Another way to utilize your talent is to serve others. Create a service or product to reach a broader audience. Everyone starts small but should aim to grow.
Learn from others to serve well. Study best practices from mentors and role models, and apply them in your area. Innovate existing talent usage. Strive to serve well.
4. Platforms
Find and use platforms that amplify your efforts. You cannot be everywhere, but modern tools like technology and new media allow you to reach millions.
Start with free platforms before investing in paid ones. For example, I began writing on notice boards at university. Later, I used Facebook for daily posts and now use a paid blog. Begin with free options and transition to paid platforms as you grow.
5. People
Connect with like-minded individuals who have used their talents to make an impact. Seek mentors and role models to learn from and emulate. Connect with them and learn from their experiences to improve your own efforts.
Learn from others while using your talent. Start with familiar individuals and then seek out unfamiliar ones for deliberate learning opportunities. Use their knowledge and experience to enhance your abilities.
Conclusion
The tips above will help you use your talent and find fulfillment. Talents should not remain dormant; they must be used to create significant impacts in people’s lives. Take charge of your talent and profit from it.
