During an insightful interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Star FM in Accra, celebrated Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown shared her approach to handling social media criticism and staying motivated in her career.
McBrown, known for her vibrant personality and enduring relevance in the entertainment industry, has developed a unique perspective on dealing with public scrutiny.
“Right now, with freedom of speech and social media, you can’t control what people think about you,” McBrown remarked. She acknowledged that while social media has given everyone a platform, it has also opened the door for both praise and unwarranted negativity.

Despite this, McBrown maintains a positive outlook, explaining, “I feel like whoever is commenting, it shouldn’t get to me now. I’ve been in this job for 24 good years.”
McBrown admitted that she sometimes browses social media, even the comment sections, for entertainment. “When I’m bored and the thing is interesting, sometimes I go,” she shared.

However, she emphasized that she does not let negative comments affect her. “I’ve seen a lot of things… It doesn’t get to me. I just feel like, hmm, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
When asked how she stays motivated, McBrown offered valuable advice: “In whatever you’re doing, whatever career you pick up, you must research yourself or learn on the job.”
She attributes her success to continuously learning and adapting, regardless of her lack of formal qualifications in acting or hosting. “I learn on the job… I need to equip myself for every angle of the work I want to do,” she said.
McBrown’s resilience and dedication to personal growth have helped her navigate the often harsh landscape of social media, staying relevant and positive throughout her career.
