“Where I came from, you have to fight for yourself. Where I came from, you have to do things on your own to survive. So I remember in those days where one time in my life, as you said, I was selling kerosene. I mean, the next neighbour said kerosene, I have to go and help. I was even selling clothes on the street and buffaloes, you know.”

These early experiences of struggle and hustle would shape McKorley’s work ethic and entrepreneurial drive in later years.

Despite the financial constraints, McKorley managed to complete his basic education. However, he had to drop out of St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Form 2 due to inability to pay fees.

“As an entrepreneur, risk-taking must be part of your, half of your heart. You have to be able to take risks. And when you take the risk, you have to stand by it. No matter how it turns, you took that risk.”

“I’m so passionate about them because tennis can really change lives. You understand? I went to the stadium one day, and I saw kids using wooden rackets to play tennis. So it touched my heart. And I said, no, this is the game I can help and support.”

McKorley sees giving back as an integral part of success, stating: “At the end of your life, it’s not how much money you have made, but how many lives you have impacted.”
