Questions of Life: Who Will I Become?

Success and failure reflect our character and identity. Becoming who we aspire to be is essential for achieving meaningful results and personal growth. Consistent action fosters transformation.

“Success and failure are not just events but reflections of who we are.”

Renowned American motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar once said, “You be, do, and have,” meaning that becoming the person you aspire to be is the first step toward manifesting success. This principle highlights that who you are ultimately determines the results you produce in life.

For instance, consider the example of Jesus Christ and His 12 disciples. At the beginning of His ministry, He invited them to follow Him with the promise that He would “make them fishers of men.”

For three and a half years, He taught, trained, and molded them into people capable of winning many souls to Christ. They became the very embodiment of what He had trained them to be.

Success and failure are not just events but reflections of who we are. They are like trees bearing fruits—just as a mango tree can only produce mangoes, so will a person bear the fruits of their character and actions. Understanding this has been a game-changer for me.

When I realized that becoming comes before achieving, I started using what I had from where I was. Even though I dreamt of accomplishing big things, I knew that becoming the person who could handle those things had to come first.

The life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali exemplifies this concept even further. Ali famously called himself “The Greatest,” not out of arrogance but because he consistently delivered success in the ring.

He didn’t just achieve victories—he became a success. His actions were the results of his transformation into the greatest.

Who are you becoming today? My goal is to become a writer who inspires others. That’s why I write every day. You should consider doing the same with your talent—take consistent action toward becoming the best version of yourself.

Action Plan: Identify one area of your life where you want to succeed. Start taking daily steps toward becoming the person who achieves that goal. Remember, success is not just what you achieve; it’s who you become in the process.
