Speaking up in the appropriate forums is essential for sharing valuable ideas and solutions, and making a positive impact.
Years ago, I was supposed to join my boss for a meeting. The car wouldn’t start, and although I spotted an alternative that would have gotten us there early, I didn’t mention it until later, after we had almost completed the long process of restoring the faulty car.
This displeased my boss, who believed my suggestion would have been used if mentioned earlier.
From that moment, I learned to speak up about what I believe is good. Some of us have developed the habit of keeping our brilliant ideas to ourselves.
What is in your head cannot make you stand out until it is spoken in the appropriate forum and acted upon.
Action Plan: Starting today, make it a habit to voice your thoughts and suggestions in meetings and discussions where they can be considered and acted upon.
