Nana Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo, CEO of the Mikado Group of Companies, shared his insights on maintaining a long, healthy, and fulfilling life during an interview with Lexis Bill on Joy News TV’s Personality Profile. Known for his youthful energy, Dr. Agyekum’s advice encompassed four key aspects: diet, exercise, relationships, and a positive mindset toward others.
When Lexis remarked on Dr. Agyekum’s youthful appearance and seemingly boundless energy, the seasoned pharmaceutical entrepreneur attributed much of it to a balanced diet and regular exercise. “I think let’s go with diet. And then exercises,” he suggested, emphasizing the importance of these two habits for physical well-being.
Dr. Agyekum also highlighted rest as another essential factor in longevity, although he admitted that his busy schedule often limits his time for it. “I know that rest is also part of longevity. But I don’t have time to rest anyway,” he said with a laugh, acknowledging the demands of his role and schedule.
However, he quickly pointed out that the real cornerstone of his approach to life is cultivating positive relationships. “I think my secret is loving people. I always want people to be by me,” he shared. Dr. Agyekum believes that healthy relationships are foundational for a balanced life. “Building very healthy relationships,” he continued, has been central to his happiness and success.
Dr. Agyekum explained that he avoids conflicts by focusing on wishing others well and steering clear of envy and jealousy. This attitude has created a peaceful environment both at home and in his workplace. “I wish people well. So I wonder, my wife, my children, they ask me, don’t you err? I tell them I don’t think I err. So they should tell me where I err,” he explained. Reflecting on his approach, he added, “If you are erring, time will tell.”
The way he treats people is evident from the loyalty he inspires. “All my staff that leave, they miss me,” he said, smiling. His philosophy of treating people with respect and good intentions has been pivotal in establishing a lasting impact in his business and personal life.
In summary, Dr. Agyekum’s practical tips for longevity are simple yet profound: eat well, exercise, cultivate healthy relationships, and wish others well. His philosophy resonates with the universal truth that living well is about caring for both oneself and those around us, making his advice a timeless guide to a long and fulfilling life.
