Ghanaian entrepreneur Dr. Kobbina Tuyee Awuah has encouraged young people not to fear uncertainty while pursuing their careers.

Speaking on The Career Trail with interviewer Roselyn Felli, Dr. Awuah candidly shared how he moved through engineering, oil and gas, and eventually entrepreneurship before discovering his true path.

“It’s okay to be confused,” he said honestly during the interview.

After studying engineering at Cornell University and interning with NASA-related research projects, Dr. Awuah realised his childhood dream no longer inspired him.

He later worked in the oil industry across countries including Brazil and Norway, but still felt unfulfilled.

“You go to work, and it becomes the same thing every day. I realised I wanted something more innovative,” he explained.

His search for clarity eventually led him to Harvard Business School, where he studied business management and discovered entrepreneurship.

Despite pressure from his father, who preferred he pursue a PhD, Dr. Awuah chose business school and eventually built successful businesses in Africa.

His story has become a powerful reminder that career journeys are rarely linear and that uncertainty can sometimes lead to purpose.
