Ghanaian entrepreneur Ebenezer Kwadwo Saka Addo-Mensah has dismissed the widely held belief that capital is the biggest barrier to starting a business, insisting that ideas matter more.

In an interview on the Konnected Minds Podcast with host Derrick Abaitey, he stated emphatically, “You don’t need capital… your idea is worth more than capital.”

The Saka Homes founder explained that credibility and trust are the real currencies in business. According to him, strong relationships can unlock funding opportunities even without initial capital. “If you have a good idea, add credibility to it… people will fund it,” he said.

Saka revealed that he built his early ventures by raising small contributions from multiple people, highlighting the importance of reputation. “When I go to them for money, they give me… because they trust me,” he added.

He challenged young entrepreneurs to focus less on complaining about lack of funds and more on refining ideas and building trustworthiness.

The business leader also stressed the importance of returning investments promptly to build long-term credibility, noting that investors are more likely to reinvest when they see consistent results.

His message comes at a time when many startups struggle to secure funding, offering a fresh perspective on entrepreneurship in developing economies.
