In a heartfelt revelation on The Delay Show, Richard Nii Armah Quaye shared the realities of his early life growing up in rural Ghana.

“I grew up in Pokwasi. It was a village… there was no electricity there. There was no water there,” he recounted. From ages six to fourteen, Quaye lived with his father, fetching water from rivers and adapting to a simple lifestyle.

Despite the challenges, he described his childhood positively: “I was a happy child growing up… once you have food and the liberty to play, you are happy.”

Quaye contrasted his rural upbringing with his mother’s life in Accra, which he described as relatively luxurious at the time. Yet, these experiences shaped his resilience and perspective.

He also revealed that he didn’t grow up in a conventional family setting: “I didn’t grow up to experience mom and dad living together in a home.”

These early life experiences, he noted, laid the foundation for his drive and ambition.

His story continues to inspire many young Ghanaians, proving that humble beginnings do not limit future success.
