Retail and wholesale entrepreneur Kingsley Opoku Simpeh has advised young business owners to stop treating business revenue as personal income if they want long-term success. Speaking on the Masterminds Podcast, Kingsley stressed that poor financial discipline destroys many promising businesses.
“The business money is not your money,” he stated emphatically during the interview with Richie Mensah. He explained that entrepreneurs should maintain separate accounts for business operations, emergency buffers, reinvestment, and personal expenses.
According to Kingsley, one of the biggest mistakes small business owners make is using business funds to pay school fees, finance lifestyles, or purchase unnecessary items. He warned that such habits weaken businesses and prevent growth.
The entrepreneur disclosed that despite generating significant sales volumes, he still lives modestly and focuses heavily on reinvesting profits to expand his operations. He shared that he currently pays himself a relatively small salary while directing more resources toward scaling the business.
Kingsley believes patience, discipline, and systems-thinking are essential for anyone hoping to build sustainable wealth through entrepreneurship. He also encouraged young people to focus on solving problems instead of chasing quick success.
